The Birth of Finley: A Townsville Hospital Induction story
Ashlee and Isaac had booked more than just birth coverage. Their package included everything, from maternity through to baby’s first birthday. A full year of storytelling which was such a gift to be part of!
But on this day, the story narrowed its focus to one thing: meeting Finley.
Ashlee’s labor was induced in hospital, and things progressed quickly. In the photos from that day, you can see it all—her quiet determination, Isaac’s steady calm, the flood of relief and wonder as Finley was placed on her chest.
That kind of honesty doesn’t live in a phone snap. It lives in the in-between. The moments you didn’t even know someone was watching.
That’s the difference with birth photography. It’s not about perfect picture, it’s about remembering what it felt like. Having proof you were strong, even when it was hard. Holding on to the connection, not just the event.
Finley’s story didn’t stop at birth. I have photographed him again and again, curled into his parents’ arms as a newborn, teasing out gummy grins at three months, full of giggles by six. Each season, a new chapter.
Now, Ashlee and Isaac have it all. Not just the memories, but the moments.
That’s why I do this.
Because stories like theirs deserve to be told, not just for the baby, but for the parents, too.
If you’re curious about capturing your family’s story from bump to baby’s first year, I’d love to chat. Every journey is different, but they all deserve to be remembered.
