Wow wow wow. These past couple of weeks have been a wild ride. As an artist I don’t ever find it easy to submit work for critique. My art becomes an extension of me, and to subject part of myself to the thoughts and judgment of others I honestly find so painful! But at the same time, it’s this process that allows for growth. When I submit to awards I feel all the feelings, self doubt, imposter syndrome, a sense of pride in my work, fear of failing, love for my clients, disappointment when something I love doesn’t get an award, like seriously it’s all the feels. I need a nap when awards week is over. HA! But if you’re an artist out there thinking about submitting to awards, do it. The process is so valuable even if just to face that emotional passionate artist turmoil head on and not let it beat you. If you’re just reading this because you want to see what I entered and not necessarily for an inspirational speech I’m sorry. please continue 😂
I submitted 5 Photos and 5 Videos to this years Birth Photographer and Videographer of the year awards. I received 2 bronze, and 1 silver awards for my photos placing me in the top 20 overall (out of over 100 entrants), and 1 gold and 1 bronze for my films and received Second Place overall!
